UN Reports Over 38,000 Women and Girls Killed in Gaza War Between 2023 and 2025

A recent report by UN Women has revealed that more than 38,000 women and girls were killed in Gaza between October 2023 and December 2025 during Israel's military offensive.

This figure represents over half of the total fatalities reported by Gaza's Ministry of Health during the same period.

The Gaza Ministry of Health recorded 71,200 deaths since the start of the conflict, which began following a Hamas-led attack on southern Israel in October 2023.

The report highlights that women, children, and older persons together account for more than half of all fatalities.

The report also notes that fatality peaks among women and girls coincided with periods of large-scale destruction of civilian infrastructure, including homes, schools, and designated shelters, particularly during the early phase of the war.

Additionally, it estimates that nearly 11,000 women and girls in Gaza have sustained lifelong disabilities.

Despite a ceasefire agreement reached in October 2025, the situation remains precarious.

More than 750 Palestinians have been killed and over 2,000 injured since the truce, with both Israel and Hamas accusing each other of ceasefire violations.

Humanitarian conditions continue to be dire, with limited aid reaching Gaza and shortages of essential supplies such as food, medicine, and menstrual hygiene products.
