Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu reveals successful prostate cancer treatment

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has disclosed that he underwent successful treatment for early-stage prostate cancer.

The diagnosis was made during a routine medical checkup, and the treatment involved radiation therapy.

The information was revealed alongside the release of Netanyahu's annual medical report.

The report confirmed that the malignant tumour was completely removed and that no trace of cancer remains.

Netanyahu, aged 76, delayed the public disclosure of his diagnosis and treatment by two months.

He stated this was to prevent Iran from using the information as propaganda during ongoing conflict.

The prime minister had surgery in 2024 for an enlarged benign prostate and has been under routine medical monitoring since.

The cancerous tumour was discovered during his most recent checkup.

Medical experts noted that prostate cancer is common among men of Netanyahu's age and that the disease was detected at an early stage.

Imaging and blood tests indicate the cancer has disappeared.

The disclosure comes amid heightened tensions between Israel and Iran.

Earlier in the year, false rumours circulated on social media and Iranian state media claiming Netanyahu had died.
