Man extradited from UAE charged with 2024 Westminster murder

Enzo Bettamio, 18, has been extradited from the United Arab Emirates to the United Kingdom and formally charged with the murder of Kamonnan Thiamphanit, who was fatally stabbed in Westminster in 2024.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that Bettamio was flown from Dubai to the UK on Friday and is expected to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Saturday.

Kamonnan Thiamphanit, also known as Angela, was 27 at the time of the stabbing and held dual Chinese-Hong Kong and Thai nationality.

She was found with multiple stab wounds at her home in Westminster on 8 April 2024 and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation into the murder has been ongoing, with the victim's family receiving support from specialist officers throughout the process.

Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, who is leading the investigation, expressed gratitude to the victim's family and friends for their patience and support during what she described as an "incredibly difficult and distressing time." This development is significant as it marks the successful extradition of a suspect from abroad in a high-profile murder case, reflecting international cooperation in criminal justice matters.

The formal charging of Bettamio brings the investigation a step closer to resolution.

The victim's family remains informed of the latest developments and continues to receive specialist support.

The upcoming court appearance will be a key moment in the legal proceedings.
