North Korea Reaffirms Support for Russia's Ukraine War

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has reaffirmed Pyongyang's support for Russia's invasion of Ukraine, pledging to help Moscow achieve victory in what he described as a "sacred war." This declaration followed a meeting on Sunday with Russian Defence Minister Andrey Belousov.
Pyongyang has provided missiles, munitions, and thousands of troops to assist Russia in Ukraine.
In exchange, Moscow is reported to be supplying financial aid, military technology, food, and energy to North Korea.
The two sides discussed plans to deepen military cooperation, with Russia proposing a new bilateral military cooperation plan covering 2027 to 2031.
This was confirmed during the meeting between Kim and Belousov.
Kim also attended the opening ceremony of a memorial complex in Pyongyang dedicated to North Korean soldiers killed in Ukraine.
He paid tribute to their bravery, heroism, and sacrifice during the conflict.
The memorial event included a concert, fireworks, and an air force flyover.
Russian parliamentary speaker Vyacheslav Volodin was also present.
Kim expressed confidence that the Russian army and people would secure victory in the conflict.
He reaffirmed North Korea's full support for Russia's policy to defend its national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security interests.
The unveiling of the memorial coincides with the first anniversary of Moscow's recovery of parts of Kursk, a region where North Korean soldiers were deployed to help repel a Ukrainian counteroffensive starting in mid-2024.
