Israeli strikes kill at least five in Gaza including a nine-year-old boy

Israeli military strikes in Gaza on Tuesday resulted in the deaths of at least five people, including a nine-year-old boy named Adel al-Najjar.

Adel was collecting firewood in the eastern part of Khan Younis city when he was killed by Israeli fire, according to authorities at Nasser hospital.

The location was about 400 metres west of the so-called Yellow Line, which separates Israeli-controlled areas from the rest of Gaza.

In a separate incident, four men were killed in a direct Israeli strike on a car in Gaza City.

The Israeli army stated it targeted a "terrorist" in Gaza City but did not provide further details.

There has been no immediate comment from the Israeli military regarding the killing of the child.

Since the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in October 2025, Israeli forces have killed at least 818 Palestinians, including 226 children and 179 women, according to Gaza Health officials.

The ongoing conflict continues to cause significant civilian casualties.

Medical evacuations are ongoing, with eighty-one sick and injured children and their families recently transported from Gaza to Jordan for treatment.
