US President Trump Cancels Iran Peace Talks and Plans Extended Port Blockade

US President Donald Trump has ordered the cancellation of a planned second round of peace talks with Iran, scheduled to take place in Islamabad.

Trump instructed US envoys not to attend the talks, citing frustration with Iran's approach to negotiations.

He warned Iran to "get smart soon" and agree to a peace deal, posting on social media that "No more Mr Nice Guy" would apply if Iran failed to comply.

The peace talks were intended to be held in Pakistan, with US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner set to participate.

However, Trump stated that the US holds "all the cards" and refused to send representatives on an 18-hour flight to discussions he deemed unproductive.

Despite the cancellation, Trump indicated that the US has not yet considered resuming hostilities.

Iranian officials, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who recently visited Islamabad, denied that direct talks were formally agreed upon.

Araghchi met with Pakistani military chief Asim Munir, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar as part of ongoing mediation efforts.

Earlier negotiations in Pakistan failed to produce a deal.
