Neo-Nazi Convicted of Terror Charges After MI5 Sting Operation

Alfie Coleman, a 21-year-old neo-Nazi from Great Notley, Essex, has been found guilty of preparing terrorist acts following an MI5 sting operation.
Coleman attempted to purchase a Makarov pistol and ammunition in September 2023 and was arrested immediately after collecting the weapon from a Land Rover in a car park in east London.
The conviction came after a retrial at the Old Bailey, following an initial jury deadlock.
Court proceedings revealed Coleman was a far-right militant accelerationist who compiled a list of "race traitors" and identified potential targets including the Lord Mayor of London and a mosque.
Prosecutors described how Coleman had immersed himself in extreme right-wing ideology during the Covid lockdown, seeking weapons advertised online and downloading documents such as The Anarchist Cookbook.
He also wrote a manifesto and possessed a copy of a racist manifesto by Dylann Roof, who carried out a deadly attack in 2015.
The MI5 operation involved undercover officers engaging Coleman in encrypted chats as he sought to buy weapons.
The sting culminated in his arrest at a Morrisons car park in Stratford, east London, where he paid £3,500 and collected a holdall containing the gun, five magazines, and 200 rounds of ammunition.
Searches of Coleman's home uncovered neo-Nazi paraphernalia including a rock with a swastika and a flag associated with neo-Nazism.
