Trial hears of arson attack on Keir Starmer's sister-in-law's home

During a trial at the Old Bailey, testimony revealed that an arson attack occurred on the home of Keir Starmer's sister-in-law in May 2025.
The incident took place at a property in Kentish Town, north London, which was being rented by Judith Alexander, Starmer's sister-in-law.
Alexander described waking up at around 1:00 am to loud bangs and seeing black smoke and an orange glow at the entrance of the property.
She called the fire brigade and attempted to contact Starmer's wife.
Alexander's daughter, who was asleep upstairs, was frightened by the smoke and was given masks to wear.
The fire caused significant smoke inside the house, leading Alexander, who has asthma, to struggle to breathe.
She remained awake throughout the night, concerned about the safety of her daughter whose room was directly above the fire.
This attack followed two other incidents linked to Starmer: a car fire on 8 May 2025 and a fire at flats connected to him in Islington on 11 May 2025.
Three men-Roman Lavrynovych, Petro Pochynok, and Stanislav Carpiuc-are charged with conspiring to damage property by fire between 1 April and 13 May 2025.
