Iran says US proposal to end war is still under review
Iran says a US proposal to end the war is still being considered, after reports that the two sides may be close to an agreement.
A foreign ministry spokesman said Tehran would share its views on the proposal with Pakistani mediators after its review is complete.
Pakistan's foreign minister said his country was trying to turn the ceasefire into a permanent end to the war.
US President Donald Trump said there had been very good talks with Iran in the last 24 hours and that a deal was possible.
He also warned that if Iran did not agree, the bombing would start again at a higher level and intensity.
The reported talks matter because they appear to link a ceasefire effort with wider nuclear negotiations, including possible limits on Iranian enrichment and sanctions relief.
They also touch on the Strait of Hormuz, a key shipping route.
Axios reported that the White House could be closing in on a 14-point memorandum of understanding with Iran.
The report said the document could set a framework for more detailed nuclear talks, but that many of its terms would depend on a final agreement.
