Ukraine launches major drone attack on Russia ahead of Victory Day
Ukraine has carried out a major drone attack on Russia, with Russian officials saying air defences shot down 347 drones overnight across 20 regions.
The strikes came as tensions rose over ceasefire plans around Russia's Victory Day commemorations.
Russia's defence ministry said the drones were intercepted in regions including Moscow.
It said dozens more drones were launched during the day, while authorities in the capital reported disruption to flights.
Nearly 100 flights in and out of Moscow's three main airports were delayed or cancelled by midday, according to the Kremlin.
The authorities have also ordered mobile internet access in Moscow to be switched off for the Victory Day period.
The attack is being described as Ukraine's second-biggest drone assault on Russia since the full-scale war began in February 2022.
It adds to pressure on Russian air defences and transport systems at a politically sensitive moment.
The strikes came after Moscow rejected Kyiv's proposal for a ceasefire that was meant to begin on Tuesday local time.
