Israeli strikes kill at least four in southern Lebanon after displacement warnings

Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon have killed at least four people and wounded eight others, according to Lebanese media, after Israel issued forced displacement warnings for nine towns in southern and eastern Lebanon.

The state National News Agency said two medics were among the wounded when an air strike hit a civil defence team affiliated with the Islamic Health Society in Toul, in Nabatieh, as they responded to an earlier attack.

The agency said the strikes came amid ongoing Israeli military attacks in violation of the official ceasefire.

In Ebba, also in Nabatieh, two men were killed and five others injured in an air raid.

A drone strike on a car in Haris, in Bint Jbeil district, killed one man and injured his brother, while other strikes were reported in Sajd, Kfar Rumman and Safad al-Battikh.

The attacks matter because they add to a continuing cross-border escalation between Israel and Hezbollah, with civilians and emergency responders among those affected.

The displacement warnings also suggest a wider area of concern across both southern and eastern Lebanon.

Ahead of the strikes, the Israeli army warned residents in Rihan, Jarjou, Kfar Rumman, Nmairiyeh, Arabsalim and Harouf in Nabatieh, and Jmayjmeh, Mashghara and Qlayaa in eastern Lebanon to evacuate, saying Hezbollah infrastructure was present in the towns.

The Israeli military also said a soldier was killed by a drone launched by Hezbollah near the border, and that three Israeli soldiers were injured by a booby-trap drone explosion in southern Lebanon.
