In the Middle East, Iran warned ships in the Strait of Hormuz against using unapproved routes, saying any breach could bring an immediate and forceful response. Reporting from the waterway said shipping remains disrupted despite a fragile ceasefire between the United States and Iran, with dozens of boats still waiting offshore.  🔗  🔗

Iran is also in days of public mourning and funeral processions for former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, with Tehran heavily fortified ahead of the main ceremonies. Crowds are expected over three days as the capital prepares for the state events.  🔗  🔗

Elsewhere in the region, a bomb blast at a crowded cafe in central Damascus killed at least six people and wounded 22, according to one report, while Syrian state media later said the toll had risen to nine after an explosive device was planted. Financial glimpse

Wall Street closed higher, with the Dow, S&P 500 and Nasdaq all advancing as megacap tech led the move, though chips lagged and gold extended its breakout.  🔗

Asia Pacific trading was mixed, with Tokyo and the Nikkei 225 opening lower before ending slightly firmer, the Hang Seng also edging up, and the Kospi falling sharply as oil softened, metals strengthened and the yen firmed.  🔗  🔗

European markets opened higher, led by the DAX, with the FTSE 100, CAC 40 and Euro Stoxx 50 also gaining as precious metals surged and Brent eased.  🔗
