The summit also underlined the commitment of European allied states to take greater responsibility for security in Europe. The source says the gathering issued the Ankara Summit Declaration, along with a joint commitment by European allies and Canada on maritime security in the North Atlantic, the Baltic Sea and the Arctic.

President Alexander Stubb said Europe is already carrying more of its own security. He said defence development is long-term work, but results are already visible.

His delegation included Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen and Defence Minister Antti Häkkänen. The source also lists a declaration on France's participation in NATO's Forward Land Forces in Finland and a joint statement on the Deep Precision Strike Capability Investment Initiative.
