Day News Recap: Trump pauses Iran strikes as Gaza, Ukraine and Moscow tensions deepen

Donald Trump said he was cancelling or halting threatened strikes on Iran if a deal can be reached quickly, after signalling a framework tied to Hormuz and nuclear terms and saying the situation remained unresolved. In Gaza, the Board of Peace faced renewed criticism after Trump said Hamas had agreed to disarm and move to the next phase of the ceasefire process, while Israeli strikes overnight killed at least eight people in residential areas. In the occupied West Bank, Israeli forces detained seven Palestinians, including two children, in overnight and predawn raids, while settler attacks near Ramallah injured a couple, adding to the pressure around the wider conflict.  🔗

Russia faced a string of security incidents, with officials saying a homemade explosive device detonated at an Italian restaurant in central Moscow, killing at least three people and injuring more than 20. Ukraine said it struck a major oil refinery and the Engels airfield in the Saratov region, as well as an oil depot, while another report said drone crews launched long range attacks toward occupied Crimea.
