Finnish leaders discuss Ukraine, Russia pressure and ties with China
Finland's President and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy discussed the situation in Ukraine at a meeting on Friday, 2 October. The office said the participants agreed on the need to continue providing strong support for Ukraine and to increase pressure on Russia.

The meeting also covered China's global role and Finland's relationship with China. According to the release, China remains an important trading partner for Finland, but efforts to reduce trade imbalances and dependencies should continue.
The office said China's support for Russia's war of aggression is reflected in bilateral relations and has a negative impact on European security. The President and the committee also received an overview of the foreign and security policy issues due to be discussed at the October European Council, and they discussed security-related observations concerning members of parliament.
The police were to provide information on the preliminary investigation as it progressed.
