Russian missile strike hits Kyiv and injures civilians

Those talks involved officials from the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany and the European Union, along with representatives from the World Bank and the US investment group BlackRock, according to Ukrainian lead negotiator Rustem Umerov. The discussions focused on post-war reconstruction, funding for next year and the shape of future security support. The timing of the Kyiv strike, alongside those diplomatic meetings, underlines the continuing overlap between battlefield developments and international negotiations.

The attack also comes three days before US-led Ukrainian-Russian talks were due to begin in Abu Dhabi, where negotiators were expected to seek a resolution to the war. The conflict has now lasted more than four years, and the latest strike adds to the pressure on both military and diplomatic channels. It also follows comments by US President Donald Trump that a deal between Russia and Ukraine may be imminent after a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin's special envoy, Kirill Dmitriev, at the White House.

What remains unclear is the full scale of the damage across Kyiv and whether more injuries will be reported. Officials have not yet said whether the strike was part of a broader wave of attacks beyond the capital.
