Lebanon says Israeli drone strike kills father and critically injures daughter in Nabatieh
Lebanon says an Israeli drone strike in the southern town of Nabatieh has killed a Syrian father and critically injured his 12-year-old daughter, despite the ceasefire agreement in force since 17 April.
The Lebanese health ministry said the pair were hit while travelling on a motorbike outside areas covered by Israeli evacuation orders.
It said the drone struck them a second time after they moved away from the site of the first attack, killing the father.
The ministry said the girl was then targeted directly in a third strike and was undergoing life-saving surgery.
It condemned what it described as deliberate violence against civilians and children.
The incident adds to pressure on the fragile ceasefire in southern Lebanon, where Israeli forces and Hezbollah have continued to trade fire.
Israel has said it would act forcefully against Hezbollah after what it called violations of the agreement.
Lebanon's state-run National News Agency said Israeli warplanes also struck the town of Zrariyeh and other areas named in an Israeli evacuation notice.
It reported casualties in a strike on a car between two of the locations, and said airstrikes and artillery shelling hit other parts of the south not mentioned in the warning.
