In the Middle East, Yemen's internationally recognised president said government forces had launched military operations to retake territory still held by the Houthis, as fresh strikes continued. Oil markets also stayed in focus, with provisional shipping data suggesting Middle East crude exports rose above pre war levels on several days in the last week of September despite continued tension around the Strait of Hormuz.  🔗  🔗

Israel faced several separate developments, including reports that a Flydubai co pilot allegedly attacked a colleague and planned to crash a plane into Ben Gurion airport, and a sharp Israeli response to the UK Green Party's vote to define Zionism as racism. Brazil's presidential race went to a runoff after no candidate won an outright majority, with Senator Flavio Bolsonaro finishing ahead of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in the first round and the second round set for 25 October. In South Asia, thousands kept protesting in New Delhi and Mumbai for a third day over disputed voter roll revisions, with police detentions continuing.  🔗  🔗

Pakistan's PTI launched a mass rally toward Islamabad after talks with the government failed, as supporters of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan began marching from northwest Pakistan.
