U.S. President Donald Trump said a ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel would take effect at midnight Beirut time after discussions with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun.
According to the announcement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed to a 10-day ceasefire intended to pause hostilities and create space for efforts to stop rocket fire by Hezbollah toward Israel.
The ceasefire is also expected to support ongoing diplomatic contacts, including talks involving the Lebanese and Israeli ambassadors in Washington earlier this week.
