In the Middle East, Donald Trump escalated his warnings to Iran, saying the United States would “completely decimate” the country if it tried to assassinate him, and later posting that America was ready for massive retaliation.  🔗  🔗 The White House also gave Tehran until Saturday to publicly commit to ending attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and to declare the waterway safe, while talks remain strained.  🔗  🔗 Satellite images meanwhile suggested Iran has started rebuilding the Taleghan 2 underground site inside the Parchin military complex after US strikes, and other imagery pointed to fresh activity at Iranian nuclear sites.  🔗  🔗

Gaza saw further violence after an Israeli drone attack injured hospital staff and nearby civilians at Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza.  🔗 Separately, Iran's supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, issued a written revenge pledge over the death of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, adding to the sense of escalation.  🔗

China moved more than 2 million people from risk areas as Typhoon Bavi approached the east coast, with Zhejiang among the provinces on alert.  🔗 In a separate regional milestone, China and North Korea marked 65 years of their Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance, underlining the strategic importance of the alliance.  🔗
