In the UK, emergency services in north Wales have declared a major incident as firefighters battle a large wildfire near Conwy Mountain and the Sychnant Pass.  🔗

Elsewhere, Bangladesh is facing one of its worst monsoon disasters in years, with floods and landslides killing at least 50 people and leaving millions stranded.  🔗 In Mali, the army says it has retaken the northern town of Anefis after nearly a week of fighting with Tuareg separatists and an armed group linked to al Qaeda, with about 30 soldiers killed.  🔗

Separately, reports from Japan say Russian intelligence officers have used the country as a base for buying or stealing battlefield technology and moving it into Russia, underlining the reach of Moscow's war economy.  🔗
