In the Middle East, Israeli air strikes in southern Lebanon killed at least nine people in a village, including a child, a woman and a paramedic, as ceasefire tensions rose again. Separately, a Palestinian man was killed by Israeli forces after a 19 year old settler was critically injured in a stabbing near Usarin in the occupied West Bank.  🔗 🔗

Ukraine faced another escalation in Russian pressure, with Kyiv recording more daily air raid alerts than at any time since the full scale invasion in 2022, according to analysis of government figures. The pattern reflects a shift to round the clock strikes that is keeping the capital under near constant threat.  🔗

Russia also deepened its ties with North Korea by opening the first road bridge across their shared border over the Tumen River. The crossing creates a new land link between the two countries and is being presented as a symbol of closer cooperation.  🔗

In Germany, the far right Alternative for Germany said it is seeking support from other parties or individual lawmakers after its breakthrough in the Saxony Anhalt state election. Across Asia Pacific, Jakarta’s main airport and three other airports remained closed after the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau, disrupting travel for more than 270,000 passengers and delaying reopening plans.
