In the wider Middle East, the Houthis fired missiles toward Riyadh in a fresh escalation with Saudi Arabia, while powerful explosions at a Syrian army weapons depot near al Eis, south of Aleppo, injured at least four people. Security tensions also rose in Asia, where North Korea fired two short range ballistic missiles from the Wonsan area into the East Sea, prompting protests from South Korea and Japan.
