In Asia-Pacific, Super Typhoon Bavi made landfall on Rota, bringing powerful winds and torrential rain to the Northern Marianas, while China carried out a long range missile test in the Pacific, prompting condemnation from Australia over the timing.  🔗  🔗 Australia also moved to deepen regional defence ties, with a major new treaty with Fiji expected to be signed.  🔗

By the close in Asia Pacific, Hong Kong had rallied, Tokyo finished a touch lower and Seoul sold off sharply, with the metals rally still the standout move.  🔗
