In Haiti, the UN says at least 47 people were killed in a gang attack near Kenscoff, close to the capital Port au Prince, one of the deadliest recent assaults in the area. Survivors are still searching for missing relatives after armed men descended on the farming community and bodies were left in the streets.  🔗 🔗

Iran remained at the centre of a widening regional standoff, with Donald Trump saying he has no time schedule for talks and the United States announcing fresh sanctions and warning of secondary penalties for countries and firms that keep trading with Tehran. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected diplomacy with Tehran and repeated claims about Trump’s threat posture, while oil prices fell for a second day as traders judged the risk of renewed US strikes to have eased. Across the wider Middle East, the Kurdish led Syrian Democratic Forces said they were dissolving as an independent force after merging into the Syrian army under a Damascus deal.
