In the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates said it is investigating a serious incident on a FlyDubai passenger flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv, after reports that the co pilot tried to seize control and allegedly planned to crash the aircraft into Ben Gurion Airport. The case has raised fresh security concerns around civil aviation in the region.  🔗  🔗

Gaza remained at the centre of diplomatic pressure, with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres calling for a permanent ceasefire ahead of the third anniversary of the 7 October 2023 Hamas attack. Asia Pacific trading was risk on, with Tokyo opening strongly and then closing sharply higher as the Nikkei 225 pushed past 70,000, while Hong Kong was weaker, the yen softened, oil slid and gold eased.  🔗  🔗

Europe opened lower, with the FTSE 100, CAC 40, DAX and Euro Stoxx 50 all in the red, while the euro weakened and Brent crude fell sharply.  🔗
